Over the past decades, the viscosity of passenger car engine oils has decreased significantly: from 10W-40 to 5W-40, 5W-30, 0W-20, 0W-16, and now even 0W-8.
At present, 5W-30 remains the most widely used engine oil, but each year a greater share of the market is shifting towards 0W-20. As a result, 0W-20 is now the second most common engine oil, with approximately 20% of the vehicles serviced by an average workshop using this oil. Naturally, there are different types of 0W-20, but thanks to the upgrade of the MPM 05000C5, this oil is now highly versatile.
Upgrade to MPM 05000C5
The updated MPM 05000C5 Motor Oil 0W-20 Premium Synthetic C5 meets, among others, the ACEA C6 standard and is certified for API SQ and ILSAC GF-7A. In addition, the product has now gained an official Volvo approval.
Thanks to its updated specification profile and approvals, MPM 05000C5 outperforms the 05000ECB, 05000VLV, and 05000JP in many areas. However, the 05000JP is still required for applications that specify Dexos1 Gen 3 approval, including many General Motors vehicles.
